What sweetness there is in my soul!

We do witness today a growing sense of loss of meaning in some basic expressions that give shape to the inner feelings of our hearts: words like “falling in love,” “tenderness,” “hearts on fire,” are experiencing a loss in meaning and being almost reduced to merely earthly concepts. An attitude that has exacerbated the purely human dimension of such realities and has cast into the shadows the transcendent side of such concepts.

The reading of the following thoughts of Mother Trinidad will instil in us a special joy and will endow to these words a new lofty meaning. It’s all about the love between God and the soul, a love which is lived and expressed as the most sublime and real state of being in love. Such is the “madness” of Infinite Love and the response of the soul that loves God in return with “madness and frenzy”; a context which leads us to a deeper understanding of the biblical book of “Song of Songs” and to live out the first commandment of God’s law: “Love God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength .” This is indeed the true meaning of what being in love is, everything else is just a faint look-alike reality.

“What sweetness there is in my soul!”

What sweetness there is in the depth
of my sore chest…!
what a divine spring
in its flowing freshness…!

Nectar of rich perfumes
is the chest of my beloved,
where my being, captivated,
rises from the ground to the height.

Let all the things pass
without disturbing the rest
of my soul with its Spouse,
in intimate joyous union!

He kisses me… I kiss Him…;
and, in sweet returning,
both of us say love
without saying to one another anything but that.

But a love that is, in tenderness,
of so much beauty,
that has the soul captive
by its infinite beauty.

Leave my chest resting,
for God kisses on His passing
with such a tender capturing,
that His whole being is in joy.

Depth of my mysteries…!
Let the silence break out into songs
of sacred touchings
by the flying of my flight.

Because my soul runs so much
when it hears its Lover,
that it undertakes a fast flight
after the pace of Him whom it loves.

Silence, keep the secret
of my affected chest
that feels all swollen
in tenderness of the Immense.

So many consecrated persons have lost the true sense of the supernatural, and, for that reason, they have turned into a source of scandal and the ruin of souls…! (17-12-76)

What a pain I feel when I contemplate that a great part of the consecrated people, losing their supernatural outlook, has become disoriented filling with bitterness the heart of men, presenting to them a very week and material Christianity which, making them seek only earthly goods, separate them from the infinite Good! (17-12-76)

Do you say that you love God and men, and you do not try to put in the hearts of those who surround you the desire for the supernatural, alone capable of filling with peace and charity, so that they may surrender to God and through Him to others? (17-12-76)

Priest of Christ, consecrated soul, if you separate from the contact with God, you lose the supernatural outlook, and then you lead those that surround you to live only on perishable goods, without showing them the supreme Good who will make them happy for all Eternity. (17-12-76)

Because you separated from the familial contact with Christ, your life was darkened, confusion invaded you, your chest was filled with bitterness; and, perhaps, without realizing it, you do the same to those that approach you. (17-12-76)

Do you say that you want to give God to men…? How will you give them a God that you do not know because you did not try to find time to be with Him and, thus, penetrating His mind, know how you ought to live and act? (17-12-76)

Are you consecrated to God? Think it over, because the treasure that the Lord has placed in your hands when He called you “that you might be with Him” and to send you to the others, is communicated to the small ones, specially at the feet of the Master in long times whiles of prayer. (17-12-76)

You, who consecrated yourself to God, rise up from your spiritual lethargy, look at the Father’s Christ who asks for help, do not let yourself be dragged by the confusion that invades us, be brave, do not be afraid of the proud ones; God will come out in your defence, putting in your mouth all that you ought to say, if, living on Him and for Him, with a sincere heart and a clean soul you seek Him. (17-12-76)

The Lady has fallen asleep

In 1950 Pope Pius XII defined the dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady in body and soul to Heaven. Ten years later –in 1960– like imprinting His seal upon this dogma –as it were– the Lord was pleased to allow Mother Trinidad to live in such bright and full light this mystery for her to contemplate it and tell others about it, or even “sing it,” as she herself says in the bosom of the Church.

With the strength of her testimony everything is evident: our souls –warped by original sin, something which Mary didn’t experience– delve with a sense of novelty and astonishment into what happens to a creature that is free from the consequences of sin. In this writing it can also be understood the difference between our death –as a result of sin– and Christ’s death –which was necessary for Redemption. Such considerations highlight therefore the Virgin’s role in co-redemption always in unison with the Redemption of Christ, with whom Mary lived His Passion, Death and Resurrection, being not only involved sentimentally, but actually participating in it.

“The Lady has fallen asleep

in Assumption triumphant and glorious to eternity”

[…] At the proximity of the glorious day of the Assumption of Our Lady, I wish to manifest what on the 15th of August of the year 1960 my spirit lived, taken by God […] to contemplate in a most profound, most clear, unimaginably amazing way, and lived in a savouring of enjoyment of Eternity, the transcendent, sublime and indescribable moment, full of splendour and majesty, of Our Lady, all Virgin…! all Mother…! and all Queen…! being raised in glorious, most blissful and splendorous Assumption from this earth, in body and soul, to Heaven.

Day of the Assumption of Our Lady…!

The whole life of Mary, of the Virgin, was an assumption that, when She reached the peak, greatest possible, replete and total instant of Her transformation into God, according to Her capacity as a unique human creature, predestined and created to be the Mother of the Infinite Word Incarnate by the will of the Father, under the infinite lulling and the sonorous softness of the Holy Spirit, divine Spouse of the Virgin, who made Her break out into divine Motherhood; She stopped at the face to face possession, in light of the Glory, of the Eternal Wisdom in His infinite immutability…

The Lady has stopped in Her ascent towards God…! Ascent that began the day She was conceived without original sin, full of grace and only for God and the realization of His eternal designs pouring Himself over hu-manity by means of the Incarnation brought about in the all pure innermost of the Virgin; to end up at that instant wherein, being Her capacity replete, She was possessed by God’s immutability… […]

If Mary could of have been a little bit more divinized, She would have lived longer. God made Mary with an almost infinite capacity for divinization; and when She was saturated and replete, rushing to Her, manifesting Himself in the attribute of the immutability, as lovable Hero, He stole His prey, and rendered Her immutable in the light of Glory.

Silence…! for the immutable immutability of the Being’s being Himself, in His Trinitarian act of divine life, rushes silently and lovingly to the encounter of that soul so divinized, in which, smoothly and tenderly… in the profound profundity of His silent peace… the adorable Trinity lays a kiss of infinite immutability…

A kiss of Eternity that, in the savoury silence of the divine mouth of the Holy Spirit, draws, like a most subtle magnet, the soul of the Virgin, raising Her body with Her by the power of the caressing breeze of the divine impulse, to the total, complete and absolute possession, in full joy, of the resplendent light of His divine countenance. […]

Through Christ, with Him and in Him, the Virgin, by the exercise of the priesthood of Her divine Motherhood, offered Her Victim for the glory of the Father, and, being Coredemtrix, for each one of the men whom Her Son on Calvary entrusted to Her, as universal Mother of all of humanity. […]

She always was adhered to Her Son; and the posture of Her soul, after the resurrection, was an adherence to this New Man so great, that the Lady was together with Him the New Woman who collaborated –through the mystery of the Incarnation, in the life, death and resurrection of Christ– to bury sin and, with it, the sinful man, crushing the head of the serpent, so that a New Man would rise from the dead, to whom would adhere all the children of God who wanted to engraft themselves on the Tree of Life.

Therefore Mary did not need to die, in order to be Coredemtrix, but to collaborate with Christ, in His life, death and resurrection, unto the Redemption; a collaboration that She carried out exercising Her peculiar priesthood in the offering of Christ to the Father, for the glory of the Father Himself and the sanctification of men. […]

The living of the Virgin with Christ in His passion, was a mystical and bloodless death, which made Her rise from the dead also mystically with Christ; going to live, as Mother of the universal Church, the new life that by Christ is given to us all.

Therefore I believe that my soul did not see at any moment, a separation between the body and the soul of the Virgin the day when the Lord deigned, by a motion of His will in infinite mercy over this poor and wretched human creature and so that I might manifest it, to show me the sublime and indescribable moment of the Assumption of the Virgin in body and soul to Heaven. […]

Mary’s soul, always with Her wings stretched out, is the perfect expression of the fulfilment of God’s will over men; therefore, when the exile ended, it takes its body therewith, without having to experience the burden that the latter implies for the totality of mankind.

EMary’s body ever was and remained, we could say, so divinized in all its tendencies, its cravings, its sensations, its inclinations, so much! that it was all wings, and large wings of imperial eagle! readied with God’s fortitude to gracefully pass from earth to Heaven.” […]

Let us rejoice In the fact that God is What he is

Why do you want to go to Heaven? Because you will be happy, of course. But, have you ever thought about what it will be exactly our happiness there? When we contemplate God in His light, in His greatness, in the wonder of His being, our greatest joy will be precisely that very greatness. This truth is so real that we will break with the angels and saints into a hymn of praise to God, and we will be joined to Him in an embrace of joyful adoration. That is to say, we will rejoice in the fact that God is what He is.

What if you could have now, here on earth, that same happiness…? Wouldn’t you run after it?

In this writing, Mother Trinidad teaches us the “formula for happiness” on earth and in Heaven: pure love. How fine, how deep and how true is to love God like that!

“Let us rejoice In the fact that God is What he is”

Eternity is the act of pure love, lived by God in the eternal intercommunication of the three divine Persons

God has His infinite joy in the perfect possession of Himself, being Himself in Him what He is Himself in one most blissful and Trinitarian act. […]

Eternity has the centre of its joy and the fullness of its beatitude in the fact that God is what He is and the way He is so. Because just as God, for the perfection of His nature, cannot essentially rejoice in anything apart from Himself, thus the soul, on finding itself in the participation of the very Infinite One, becomes adhered to Him in its way of seeing, in its way of feeling, in its way of rejoicing. God gives the soul His Gaze to look at Him, His Expression to sing Him, and His love to love Him. […]

And given that God essentially cannot rejoice but in what He is by the infinite perfection He encloses within Himself, even though He has also infinite capacity to infinitely rejoice, man, on being placed before God, […] feels replenished and overflows with the infinite inebriation that the contemplation of the eternal perfection grants him.

And, oh surprise! such a great mystery is performed: the creature, with its little mind accustomed to taking delight in created things, before the contemplation of the Supreme Good, in such possession of compete fullness, at that very instant of entering Eternity, is converted into an act of pure love that finds the plenitude and happiness of its joy in the fact that God is what He is through Himself. […]

God is as great and infinite as He is goodness, love, communication. And the greater we consider and see Him, the greater our joy will be, the joy that will be granted to us by contemplating God being what He is through Himself.

We will have a second joy in Eternity, this being that we will rejoice in the fact that God is in our soul, Himself being possessed and possessing it.

But even this very joy has two parts. The first one belongs to the essential joy, and it consists in rejoicing in the fact that God is being what He is in the soul, not because He is in the soul, but rather because He is Himself so and possesses us according to His will.

And the second part… Can there be a second part in the joy of the blessed? Can man, when contemplating God, turn around to rejoice in anything on his own? Is God so poor that He cannot totally fill us? No! What happens is that our mind is so tiny, that here on earth, when talking about possessing the Infinite One, if I do not present a joy in which man may be the main actor, his selfish mind on being accustomed to living for himself and by the bodily senses, on understanding everything in a human way, it seems that man remains empty; not understanding with his shallow outlook that there can be something greater than himself or that he can rejoice in somebody else’s joy, to the point of forgetting completely about himself. […]

God is infinite Gaze, eternal Contemplation, in such a rich and plentiful fruitfulness, that He breaks forth begetting in an outburst of such expressive Wisdom, that the infinite Explanation of this eternal Wisdom is one person. And this Person, the eternal Word, is so infinite, is such Explanation, that it is the whole infinite perfection in the eternal spelling out of itself. And this perfection of infinite Wisdom that breaks into Explanation between the Father and the Son, is such a perfect adherence and infinite intercommunication, that it gives rise, in perfect joy of eternal wisdom, to the infinite love in a Person Love, the Holy Spirit.

And God, being Himself like this and having His joy in His Trinitarian and personal way of being, gives us all He is, not for us to be so, because that is what makes God be Himself what He is and that is intrinsically His, but for us to possess it, and by becoming one with Him, we may rejoice in Him. […]

Today my soul wants to be a hymn of praise to God’s glory, due to the attraction I feel within me to rejoice always in the fact that He is happy, to seek always and only His happiness, to strive that all those who surround me may be repose for God. […]

When we try that people rejoice in the fact that God is what He is, we are giving them the greatest happiness, making them fulfil their end, […]

Thank you, Lord, because this feeling –You know it very well– is the breathing of my being […]. Thank you, Lord; thank you, Lord; thank you, Lord…! Thank you for Your way of being and acting, eternal, perfect and happy!
